Trench digging

A much better day.

Cloudy in the morning, but the sun burst through in the afternoon. It was very cold, but also very beautiful. We spent the day at Station 15 again (but maybe for the last time) and did lots of radio wave pulsing between different holes at different depths to try to understand the ice a little bit better.

Jethro and Nils were able to dig a 6 ft deep trench (which they both claimed to enjoy), and we just spent the day hanging out in our deployment tent lowering different antenna in and out of holes. Lots of data from some simple work.

Life in the Big House is good. I feel very at home and am able to talk with everyone. They have made a wonderful culture here that focuses on being curious, accepting, and assuming the best of intentions. It makes it very easy to exist among these people.

It is a really strange community. I get the impression that lots of these people don't hangout when they are not at the poles, but the community is small so they see each other all the time. I am making some fast friends among the crew who I think I will stay in touch with, but many others with become pole friends that only see when I deploy. Reminds me a little of traveling (Summit Station definitely has a youth hostel vibe).
