Summit!!
I have made it to Summit!!!
Local temperature is -8 C (17 F) and I am 10,526 feet. Local pressure is 677 hPa.
The plane up here left pretty much on time and we arrived at Summit is partial sunshine and flat light. Couldn't tell we were approaching the runway until we touched down. The Summit flight opps team whisked my bags away and I was sent to the big house. Eric met me on the walk in for a well earned break from packing.
Summit is very relaxed. I know a lot of the crew already from being at Kanger for so long and I arrived at lunchtime, so there were lots of introductions made. I am staying in the Flarm, a building that looks so much like a shipping container that I suspect it is a shipping container. Six people in bunks, but they divide it up to actually make it pretty spacious.
I have my orientation briefing and talk with the doctor about the dangers of Summit and not I am free for the rest of the day to acclimatize a little. Tomorrow will be snowmobile training, a site tour, and then more acclimatizing.
Hi from Summit!!
